Die einzelgängerische Holländerin hält sich weder an Genres noch an Klischees und hat mittlerweile wohl jedes Lokal dieses Landes, welches sich guten Geschmack auf die Fahne geschrieben hat, bespielt. So auch zum wiederholten Male das Bad Bonn respektive die Kilbi. Hinter ihren drei Plattenspielern (Blumen sind willkommen, sofern sie liebevoll hingestellt werden!) ist sie in ihrem Element. Da wechseln Rhythmen und Stile nach einem ihr ur-eigenen Muster, da wird keine Szene angebetet, da wird dem kompromisslosen Clash gefrönt. "Viele Künstler haben Angst, das Publikum vor den Kopf zu stoßen. Diese Dienstleisterrolle langweilt mich zutiefst. Ich fürchte das Publikum nicht, weil ich mich geistig von ihm distanziere. Freiheit im Denken und Tun ist mir unheimlich wichtig." Das Publikum ist bekanntlich unbarmherzig: Wer mutig auflegt, erntet nicht selten eine leergefegte Tanzfläche. Nicht so Marcelle: Ihre innovativen Sets lassen die Leute überall auf der Welt tanzen.
Seit 30 Jahren arbeitet die DJ-Pionierin an ihrer eigenen Kunstform. Ihre musikalische Wilderei betreibt Marcelle mit afrikanischen Rhythmen, undergroundigem Techno, Dub, unzähligen (Sprach-)Samples, und allerlei anderen Geräuschen. In ihrem Credo, sich zu nichts zu bekennen, liegt eine der Qualitäten ihrer Musik: Marcelle bleibt auf der Suche. Kein Stil ist ihr Stil. Und dies immer mit unglaublich viel Stil!
La solitaire Hollandaise ne se cantonne ni aux genres ni aux clichés, tout en prenant le temps de jouer dans les lieux les plus distingués du pays. Ce n’est donc pas son premier passage au Bad Bonn Kilbi! Derrière ses trois platines (fleurs bienvenues, pour autant qu’elles soient arrangées avec amour !), elle est dans son élément. Et de là évoluent les rythmes et les styles, engendrés par ses propres samples, histoire de confronter le public à un son sans compromis. « Beaucoup d’artistes ont peur de taper sur la tête du public. Ce genre de fonctionnalité m’ennuie profondément. Je ne crains pas le public, parce que je m’en distancie psychiquement. La liberté de penser et de faire m’est viscéralement indispensable. » Le public est généralement cruel : qui mixe courageusement récolte souvent un dancefloor vide. Ce n’est pas le cas de Marcelle : elle fait danser le monde entier.
Depuis trente ans, cette pionnière travaille à sa propre forme artistique. Sa sauvagerie musicale se nourrit de rythmes africains, de techno underground, de dub, de mille bruits et langages différents. Et de son credo anticonformiste naît l’immense qualité de sa musique : Marcelle cherche encore ! Pas de style, c’est son style. L’ensemble avec infiniment de style !
The lone wolf from Holland neither abides by genres nor clichés yet she has probably played every venue with good taste in this country. And she is repeatedly at Bad Bonn, or respectively the Kilbi. Behind her three turntables (flowers are welcome as long as they’re set in a loving way!) she’s fully in her element. There are changes of rhythms and styles based on her very own patterns, there are no worshipped scenes, there’s just the indulgent of the uncompromising clash. „A lot of artists are afraid to disappoint the audience, I’m bored of the role as service provider. The audience does not scare me because I keep my mental distance. Freedom in thinking and doing is incredibly important to me.“ It’s a well-known fact: The audience is merciless. Many who tried to be this brave, often played in front of an empty dance floor. Marcelle is different: Her innovative sets let the people dance everywhere in the world.
For 30 years now the dj pioneer has been working on her own kind of art. Marcelle is plying her musical poaching with African rhythms, underground techno, dub, countless (spoken) samples and all sorts of sounds. Her guiding principle, not to commit to any style, is one of the qualities of her music: Marcelle keeps looking. No style is her style. And this with a lot of style!
