Ein Dieb geht um, und es ist kein gewöhnlicher. Dieter Kovaèiè aus Graz ist Improvisationsmusiker, bedient sich aber statt bei klassischen Instrumenten ausschliesslich an Abspielgeräten für Tonträger, in erster Linie natürlich Plattenspielern. Er lebt als Urheberrechtsverweigerer in Wien, nennt sich auch mal „Dieter Bohlen“, bewegt sich sowohl in der Free Improv- als auch in der Noise-Szene und ist bereits seit den 1980er-Jahren kontinuierlich mit Vinyl, CDs, Tapes und Harddisks zugange. Auf seiner Website kann man auch einen von ihm entwickelten open source-Loop-Player für den Eigengebrauch herunterladen, quasi als Geschenk für andere Datendiebe mit musikalischer Ader. Au lieu d'instruments « classiques », celui-ci n'utilise que des appareils de retransmission. Au premier plan : des platines. Travaillant en tant qu'avocat de défense des droits d'auteur à Vienne, se cachant parfois sous le surnom de « Dieter Bohlen », l'individu est connu depuis les années 1980 sur les scènes Free-Impro et Noise qu'il ne cesse d'encombrer de vinyles, Cds, cassettes et disques durs. Sur son site internet, on peut télécharger une banque de loops qu'il a lui même développé. Un presque-cadeau de la part de ce voleur de données à l'âme musicienne.
