MCZO & Duke

This music is almost impossible to describe. There’s a strong possibility that you’ll want to turn if off right away. Or you might think the music player is damaged. With sweeping 160 to 200 beats per minute, it races across the dance floor. Monotonous shanting, shimmering synths, dissonant percussion and super-fast beats pile up in an intense and explosive something. This is Singeli, a genre that is currently extremely popular in the streets of Dar es Salaam. Duke is one of the central figures in the Single scene, the debut album by the DJ and producer was released on the Nyege Nyege label. Together with rapper MCZO he will get the Kilbi pounding. Fast and Furious, in the most literal sense.
