The average Swiss German understands very little about francophone hip-hop, but no matter – the hand-knitted rap by the duo Gängstgäng from Delémont is something that has to be experienced anyway: while the bass is drowning and the electronics are whistling, Augustin Rebetez spits pugnacious tirades against internet platforms and low-cost airlines to Pascal Lopinat’s rattling drums. Besides, the attitude is heated: Rebetez usually talks with so much pressure it’s as if he were about to beat someone up. And yet there’s also a desire to improve the world in this music, a punkish, raging one at that.
