2014: “Unfucktheworld” or “Enemy” are titles on Angel Olsen’s second album. The young woman was angry, desperate, felt deep sorrow and that had to get out or it had to be sung out by the means of naked, raw songs. 2016: “Shut Up Kiss Me” or “Sister” are the names of the songs on her third album “My Woman”: The album is pure emancipation. Her Anger is still bitter, her desperation tart, her sorrow deep, but she knows how to conduct her feelings and delivers a magnificent and controlled interplay between strength and tenderness. A woman, indeed, My Woman.
